Antistatic means Preventing or inhibiting the buildup of static electricity. An antistatic agent is a compound used for treatment of materials or their surfaces in order to reduce or eliminate buildup of static electricity.
The role of an antistatic agent is to apply a something like humectant that acts on the surface.
The method of adding antistatic agent to Airbubble Wrap is internal antistatic which is designed to be mixed directly into the Polyethylene material.
For ESD control purposes, materials are classified by how quickly electricity moves through the material. The speed is referred to as the “resistance” of the material i.e. how strongly the material resists charge movement. The speed is measured in Ohms and is typically displayed in powers of 10 (example 10^7). The lower the number, the more conductive the material and may be considered “Antistatic”.
The surface resistance of Airbubble Wrap is usually
Represents resistance values from 1 x 10^8 Ω/sq to 1 x 10^11 Ω/sq.
In production form, it is made in roll or case form depending on your product use. Antistatic agents evaporate after a certain period of time, so they can only be produced after ordering. Please refer to the following site for the roll widths that are generally produced.
