Common Types of PE Foam on the Market
1. PE Foam Rolls
The most common and widely used form on the market. PE foam rolls are easy to handle and wrap around goods, making them suitable for a wide range of packaging and protective applications.
2. PE Foam Sheets
Often used to maintain the shape and provide cushioning for bags and cases, including shockproof bags, backpacks, and tablet or laptop cases. They are also used in the manufacture of protective clothing and equipment.
3. Aluminum-Foil-Laminated PE Foam
Used in construction for thermal insulation and soundproofing. It is also suitable for making insulated food bags and thermal packaging.
4. Anti-Static PE Foam
Designed to protect electronic circuit boards and sensitive electronic components during transportation, handling, or transfer between departments within electronics manufacturing facilities.
PE Foam vs. Bubble Wrap
These two materials have distinctly different structures. Both PE foam and bubble wrap are made from LDPE (low-density polyethylene), but their surface structures differ significantly.
PE foam has a smooth, dense, and uniform cellular structure, whereas bubble wrap features raised air-filled bubbles on its surface.
When Should You Use PE Foam?
PE foam is suitable when you need to protect heavier items, customize protective packaging, provide cushioning and void filling, or improve thermal and acoustic insulation.
When Should You Use Bubble Wrap?
Bubble wrap is ideal for small, lightweight products such as cosmetics and health supplement products, as well as compact items that require an outer protective wrapping layer.
Depending on your application requirements and budget, you can choose between PE foam rolls ranging from 1mm to 30mm thick and bubble wrap.
