COMMON PE FOAM DEFECTS
Common PE Foam defects found in production can be classified into four main groups: appearance defects, dimensional defects, physical/mechanical property defects, and post-processing defects. Details and key considerations are as follows.
1. What is PE Foam?

1. Appearance defects
- Large air bubbles
- Uneven color
- Wavy or uneven surface
- Surface cracks or dents

2. Dimensional defects
- Thickness out of specification
- Shrinkage
- Warpage or deformation
- Incorrect length or width
- Dimensional deviations after processing

3. Physical and mechanical defects
- Foam too soft or too hard
- Low elasticity
- High compression set
- Poor recovery
- Low tensile strength
- Elongation below specification
- Low tear strength
- Poor impact absorption
- Cracking or tearing
- Permanent deformation after loading

4. Post-processing defects
- Antistatic performance does not meet requirements
- OPP–HD lamination defects
- Incorrect thickness after die-cutting
- Incorrect tube diameter
- Cutting or forming defects
